Call for papers: APOE4-associated Heterogeneity in the Pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s Disease

Posted in Announcements

We request your participation in a special Research Topic that we are hosting at Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience entitled, “APOE4-associated Heterogeneity in the Pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s Disease.”

Bill Rebeck, Eileen Ruth Torres, and Tal Nuriel are very passionate about studying the role of APOE in Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis, and we felt that one of the understudied topics in the field is whether APOE4 carriers who develop Alzheimer’s disease differ significantly from non-carriers who develop the disease, and if so, how? For this reason, we decided to host a Research Topic directly focused on this question.

Is your lab currently working on any projects related to APOE4’s role in AD pathogenesis, with a specific focus on how APOE4 carriers differ from non-carriers? If so, we encourage you to submit a manuscript.

We are particularly interested in human studies focused on how the pathological or cognitive presentation of Alzheimer’s disease may differ in APOE4 carriers vs. non-carriers, or how environmental or genetic factors may differentially affect Alzheimer’s disease susceptibility in APOE4 carriers vs. non-carriers. However, related studies that don’t fall under this exact umbrella will be considered as well, including APOE animal studies that directly investigate the role of APOE4 vs other risk factors in the development of Alzheimer’s-related pathology. We are also open to receiving Reviews on this Research Topic.

Initial abstract submissions are due Nov. 30, 2023, and final manuscripts are due March 31, 2024. If you have any questions regarding this topic, please reach out to us to ask.
