Call for Applications: AAMC Early Career Minority Faculty Leadership Development Seminar

About the Conference
The AAMC Early Career Minority Faculty Leadership Seminar (new window) will address the needs of instructor and assistant level faculty who are historically underrepresented in medicine by providing participants with real-world guidance and tools for pursuing career advancement in academic medicine. The seminar will help participants develop key professional competencies that build skills in grant writing and communications, while expanding their network of colleagues and role models.

Sponsorship Opportunity
One applicant will receive financial sponsorship to attend the AAMC Early Career Minority Faculty Leadership Development Seminar (new window) (registration, travel, and meals covered) through a reimbursement process.

Sponsorship Application Requirements

  • Must be a GUMC full-time faculty member on any track at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor
  • Both non-university employed and university employed faculty from SOM, SOH, and SON are eligible to apply
  • Must identify as a member from an underrepresented population in academic medicine by AAMC definition. (new window) 
  • Submit CV/Biosketch and one page letter of interest to ofaa@georgetown.edu (new window) by April 10, 2024, 5 PM ET.

Sponsorship Process

  1. Submit a digital copy of your CV/Biosketch and a 1 page letter of interest to ofaa@georgetown.edu (new window) by April 10, 5 PM ET
  2. Committee of previous GUMC Faculty attendees will review and make recommendations to the Office of Faculty and Academic Affairs (OFAA).
  3. You will be notified if you are selected as a sponsored attendee by April 16 to provide you time to complete your AAMC application by the early bird deadline (May 6).

If AAMC registration fills before the selected GUMC candidate has confirmed their registration, OFAA will sponsor that person for the next AAMC Conference for Early Career faculty pending available funds.
